La cara es una región compleja, de forma anfractuosa e irregularmente convexa en todos sus diámetros, con numerosas cavidades destinadas a alojar los órganos de los sentidos: vista, olfato y gusto y el extremo mesial de los aparatos respiratorio y digestivo, etc.

Se trata de explicar el concepto de la imagen röntgenográfica normal en base al estudio de la función, constitución (densidades) y variantes del crecimiento, así como imagen de la patología que hace al criterio del equilibrio y desequilibrio, por ruptura de esa imágen normal, desviándola hacia el proceso constructivo o destructivo. Se abarcan los aspectos de formación de las trabéculas óseas, atento a los puntos de osificación esquelética y se comentan los períodos esqueletales intra y extrateurinos [i.e.extrauterinos] de los mismos, para finalizar con la regeneración y ordenamiento de las estructuras trabecular ósea en los casos de disfunciones o adaptabilidad funcional según la necesidad, condicionada a la región, edad y sexo.

Uno de los problemas que se presentan al odontólogo con relativa
frecuencia es el de tener que administrar anestésicos locales
a pacientes que padecen una afección cardíaca. Si bien este problema debe resolverse mediante la consulta directa con el médico de cabecera del paciente, es recomendable y a veces necesario poder hacer un análisis racional de los riesgos involucrados.
El objetivo de este trabajo es analizar esos riesgos del paciente cardíaco cuando se le administra una solución anestésica local con fines odontológicos. Para ello se considerarán primero las posibles afecciones cardíacas y las medicaciones más probables que pueda estar recibiendo el paciente, ya que los riesgos dependen de ambos elementos. Luego se analizarán los componentes de la anestesia local y sus efectos adversos, para relacionarlos integralmente con cada tipo de paciente.

La historia del descubrimiento de la anestesia óxido nítrico, cloroformo éter y su desarrollo es bien conocido. En 1880 una segunda revolución para mitigar el dolor produce la introducción de la anestesia local. 400-700 A.C. los antiguos indios peruanos que masticaban coca con alcalinos, conocían el adormecimiento en lengua y labios, que en quechua significa “kunka sukunka” (faringe adormecida).
La supresión del dolor era un desafío constante, siendo conocida la utilización de vegetales con propiedades anestésicas. El uso de cannabis, la masticación de coca, el alcohol y derivados del opio para citar algunos ejemplos.
Otros investigadores, incluyendo a Sigmund Freud, también exploraron las propiedades anestésicas de la cocaína.
Sin embargo, como todas las drogas mágicas, el esplendor de la cocaína se debilitó. Aparecieron reportes como náuseas, vómitos y problemas cardíacos severos (incluyendo la muerte) así como problemas de adicción a la cocaína. Alfred Einhorn, un investigador alemán, describió muchas reacciones adversas asociadas a la cocaína mientras se investigaban químicos con propiedades anestésicas similares a la misma pero sin sus efectos de alteración. El primer producto de esta investigación, procaína, fue introducido en la medicina y en la odontología en 1904.
