<text>Abstract: The width of keratinized mucosa (KMW), mucosal thickness (MT), and supracrestal tissue height (STH) are critical factors of peri-implant soft tissues. Insufficient KMW (<2 mm) is linked to local discomfort during oral hygiene practices and an elevated risk of peri-implant diseases. A minimum buccal MT of ≥2 mm is essential to mitigate aesthetic concerns related to the impact of transmucosal prosthetic elements on mucosal color and to enhance long-term mucosal stability. Furthermore, STH significantly affects marginal bone remodeling patterns during the initial healing phase following the attachment of transmucosal prosthetic components; short STH (<3 mm) has been correlated with marginal bone loss due to the physiological establishment of the mucosal seal. Inadequate STH may lead to unfavorable transmucosal prosthetic contours, resulting in unsatisfactory aesthetic outcomes and an increased likelihood of submarginal biofilm accumulation. Periimplant soft tissue dehiscences (PISTDs) represent a form of peri-implant deformity associated with aesthetic complications and are often observed in areas with deficiencies in KMW, MT, and/or STH. Timely diagnosis and appropriate multidisciplinary treatment of PISTDs are essential for optimal management. Conclusion: After conducting the free Gingival Graft, an increase in KMW was observed in all cases, improving the stability of peri-implant health over time.</text>

<text>Abstract: Amelogenesis imperfecta (AI) is a set of hereditary disorders with diverse causes, resulting from genetic mutations. It is characterized by anomalies in the development of enamel, which can affect both primary and permanent dentition in terms of quantity and quality. Treating patients with AI is complex and requires a multidisciplinary approach. Dentists face challenges as all teeth are generally affected, impacting oral health and the patient’s emotional and psychological well-being. Objective: This report aims to describe the preventive and rehabilitative treatment provided to a preschool patient diagnosed with hypomineralized AI. Case report: The patient was a 3-year-old girl who sought dental care at the Department of Dentistry for Children at the School of Dentistry of the University of Buenos Aires due to aesthetic concerns and tooth hypersensitivity. Upon intraoral clinical examination, it was observed that all her teeth had rough, soft enamel with irregularities and a brownish color, consistent with a diagnosis of type III hypomineralized Amelogenesis Imperfecta. Conclusion: Rehabilitative treatment for AI in preschool patients should focus on early and comprehensive intervention to alleviate symptoms, improve aesthetic appearance, restore function, prevent social and emotional impacts, and provide support for patients and their families. It is important to understand AI not only as a structural enamel anomaly but also as a condition that significantly affects the quality of life of growing and developing patients.</text>

<text>Abstract: Prostate cancer is a prevalent disease that can sometimes manifest with metastases in unusual locations, such as the jaw. These bony lesions, characterized by radiolucent areas with vague borders, represent a diagnostic challenge and can significantly complicate patient management. Treatment depends on control of the primary tumor and the presence of additional metastases. The aim of this article is to describe a rare case of mandibular bone metastasis due to prostate cancer in an elderly adult patient, highlighting the importance of a thorough differential diagnosis in the presence of tumor lesions in the jaws. An 80-year-old patient was seen for a tumor lesion in the mandible that had been evolving for two months. A computed tomography and a biopsy were performed, which confirmed the diagnosis of prostate cancer with mandibular metastasis. A tumor lesion was identified i0n the patient’s right mandible, initially diagnosed as an abscess. Radiological studies showed osteolytic features, and biopsy confirmed prostate cancer metastasis. This case highlights the importance of an accurate and thorough diagnosis, as well as the fundamental role of histopathology in the identification of oral lesions. Metastases in the jaws are extremely rare, and in this case, a lesion in the mandible was detected during a clinical examination, which is why early detection and a multidisciplinary approach are essential to avoid misdiagnosis and ensure proper clinical management in cases of unusual oral lesions.</text>

<text>Abstract: Aim: To evaluate the apical tug back and apical adaptation at the working length of alternative gutta-percha cones after using four mechanized instrumentation systems. Materials and Methods: Four Endo Training Blocks (ETB) with simulated curved canals were used. Each block was instrumented with one of the following systems: HyFLEX CM (Coltene Whaledent, Cologne, Germany), One Curve (Coltene-MicroMega, France), Race Evo (FKG Dentaire, Le Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland), and AF F ONE (Shanghai Fanta Dental Materials, China). In each block, 10 Meta master cones (META BIOMED, Cheongju, South Korea) corresponding to the diameter and taper of each system used were tested. The apical tug back and adaptation at working length were then evaluated. The first test was assessed by grasping the head of the cone inserted in the canal with cotton pliers and lifting the cone-ETB assembly to a height of 10 cm in a straight line. Lack of tug back was considered if the assembly detached before 10 seconds. Apical adaptation was determined as the total contact of the gutta-percha cone with the canal walls at working length and was evaluated under magnification (8.5X), classifying cases as 1) the cone reaches the working length and adapts to the walls; 2) the cone reaches working length but does not adapt to the walls; 3) the cone does not reach working length; and 4) the cone exceeds working length. Data were statistically described using absolute frequencies and percentages (CI95). Frequencies were compared using Fisher’s exact test (p < 0.05 significant). Results: Apical tug back: For all four systems, all cones (100%; CI95: 72% to 100%) remained elevated for 10 seconds (p = 1.00). Adaptation: A significant association was found between reaching the working length and the system used (p < 0.05). With HyFLEX and One Curve, no cones reached working length (0%; CI95: 0% to 28%); with Race Evo, only one cone reached working length (10%; CI95: 2% to 40%). In contrast, when AF F ONE was used, all cones reached working length (100%; CI95: 72% to 100%). Conclusions: The variability in the correlation between cones and instruments, even within the same system, can negatively affect the three-dimensional sealing of the root canal.</text>

<text>Abstract: Objective: To evaluate the reproducibility and reliability of a protocol for the 3D analysis of bite marks using an intraoral scanner. Materials and Methods: The 3Shape Trios® scanner was used to record the dental arches of 50 volunteers divided into two groups of 25 subjects. Each participant in both groups made two bite marks on different surfaces, totaling 100 records. Group 1 generated one bite mark on U-shaped silicone and another on pigskin. Participants in Group 2 transferred one bite mark onto pigskin and the other onto a 1.5 cm thick layer of silicone adapted to an elastic rubber sphere. The records from both substrates were photographed and scanned using an ABFO No. 2 metric scale. The Exocad® software was used to process the scanned images, which were then reviewed by two calibrated observers. Each evaluator selected between two and three marking points on the dental anatomy of the entire sample, repeating identical references on the bite marks deposited on silicone and pigskin. Results: Considering the criteria stipulated by the American Board of Forensic Dentistry (ABFO), 100% of the bite marks on silicone in both groups could not be excluded from the possibility of correlating them with the dentition that originated them. Regarding the impressions on pigskin, 100% of group 1 did not meet exclusion criteria; while for group 2, 96% met the same criteria, although 4% of the bites showed insufficient individual characteristics to categorically match them with the analyzed dentition. Conclusion: Digital comparison of scanned 3D bite mark images represents an automated methodology that minimizes the distortion inherent in photographic techniques, the bias of impressions made with elastic materials and their subsequent casting in plaster, and reduces operator subjectivity. It is essential to standardize the procedure and optimize the suitability and training of observers to generate procedural guidelines that will allow for more effective and efficient advising of the justice system in the expert analysis of human bite marks.</text>

<text>Abstract: Vital Pulp Therapy (VPT) has emerged as a conservative alternative to conventional endodontic treatment in permanent teeth with pulpitis. This shift is driven by advancements in the understanding of pulp biology and the development of bioactive biomaterials. The objective of the present work was to systematize a clinical VPT protocol based on biological, diagnostic, and intraoperative criteria, and to present its application through a clinical case study. The protocol is based on the classification by Wolters et al. (2017), which defines pulpitis as a dynamic process (initial, mild, moderate, and severe). Therapeutic decisions are established intraoperatively based on the ability to achieve hemostasis within a maximum of 6 minutes—a criterion that guides the choice between partial pulpotomy, full pulpotomy, or biopulpectomy. The procedure includes absolute isolation, non-selective caries removal, disinfection with sodium hypochlorite, placement of a calcium silicate-based bioceramic cement, and immediate adhesive restoration. Followup is conducted through clinical and radiographic controls, along with pain assessment using a visual analog scale. Based on evidence reporting success rates between 91% and 97% at 24 months for VPT in permanent teeth with vital pulp and adequate hemostasis control, a standardized working protocol was established. The purpose was to systematize the clinical-teaching experience within the Department of Endodontics at the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Buenos Aires. The systematization of a clinical protocol based on biological principles and hemostasis control as a decisional parameter allows for the organization of therapeutic conduct in a reproducible and clinically oriented manner.</text>

<text>Abstract: This study aimed to assess the duration of the procedure, the complexity of the technique, and the clinical performance of atypical restorations applied to primary and permanent molars with molar Universidad de Buenos Aires. Facultad de Odontología. Cátedra de Odontología Integral Niños. Buenos Aires, Argentina. Cortese SG , Biondi AM , Anchava J Recibido: 30/01/2026 Aceptado: 16/04/2026 Evaluación Clínica de Alkasites Para Restauraciones en Niños Clinical Performance of Alkasites for Restorations in Children Cortese ET AL hypomineralization using a bioactive composite resin. The study included patients seeking treatment for enamel-dentin carious lesions in vital primary molars or those with previous pulp treatments, as well as vital permanent molars with severe hypomineralization. Cention® N (Ivoclar Vivadent) was used after applying 3M™ Single Bond Universal adhesive to the enamel and dentin, followed by light curing. The clinical performance of all restorations was documented at baseline and every six months using modified Ryge/ USPHS criteria, along with an evaluation of the handling process on a Likert scale. The sample comprised 29 patients who received a total of 46 restorations in primary molars, 26 vital and 20 with prior pulp treatment and 36 patients with 43 restorations in permanent molars, 31 occlusal and 12 with two or more surfaces. The findings revealed an overall success rate of 97.4% at 12 months for primary teeth and a survival rate of 95.7% at 18 months for teeth with molar hypomineralization. The study concluded that Cention® N, when used with an adhesive system and light curing, demonstrated excellent performance in restoring primary molars with two or more surfaces as well as permanent molars with hypomineralization. The handling process was straightforward and the working time was short. However, further research must be conducted with longer-term follow-up.</text>

<text>Abstract: The digitalization of diagnostic and treatment planning processes has led to significant modernization in the field of orthodontics. The use of CAD-CAM technology is a system that integrates Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) to design and produce objects, and the incorporation of clear aligner treatments provide a concrete response to the growing aesthetic demands of many patients. However, it is well known that the predictability of treatments with aligners may vary depending on the type of tooth movement, the design, and the material of the aligners, among other factors. To enhance predictability, current literature recommends hybrid treatment approaches that combine aligners with additional orthodontic devices. In this report, we present two clinical cases of patients with bilateral Class II malocclusion, in which a single-phase treatment protocol was applied to correct the sagittal discrepancy. The Carriere® Motion 3DTM Class II appliance was used in combination with in-office aligners manufactured at the School of Dentistry, University of Buenos Aires (FOUBA), using Nemocast software. This strategy allowed for optimized distalization movements, improving predictability and reducing overall treatment time.</text>
