Se presenta un análisis cuantitativo de las variaciones en la población de mastocitos de piel, mucosa bucal, lengua y mucosa nasal de ratas, luego de irradiación local cefálica con rayos x en una dosis de 16.000 rad. La experiencia se realizó sobre veintiún animales de uno a siete días de edad, que fueron sacrificados durante la semana siguiente a la irradiación. Cortes transversales de cabeza, fueron fijados en líquido de Rossman, incluidos en parafina y cortados a 10 micrones de espesor, para colorearlos luego con tionina pH 3,9. Los recuentos de mastocitos se realizaron sobre 3 mm² de cada uno de los tejidos, y de los valores obtenidos fueron comparados estadísticamente contra los recuentos similares realizados en diecinueve ratas no irradiadas. Los resultados indican la existencia de disminución numérica de mastocitos, en todas las zonas sometidas a irradiación local, que fue estadísticamente muy significativa (p=0,001) en piel y mucosa bucal y solamentesignificativa en lengua (p=01). Porcentualemente sin embargo, la caída numérica fue mayor en mucosa bucal (84 por ciento) que en la piel de la cabeza (62 por ciento). La distribución topográfica y la morfología celular, no presentaron alteraciones. Se comenta la posible relación entre estos hallazgos y las actividades funcionales de los mastocitos, así como con otros trastornos que presentan los animales, especialmente, menor peso y menor desarrollo corporal. Esto parece apoyar la hipótesis de una participación activa de los mastocitos en la construcción de la sustancia fundamental del tejido conectivo.

Se estudió la adhesión de dientes de resina acrílica de cadenas cruzadas a resina acrílica termocurable de cadenas lineales y cruzadas. Se confeccionaron probetas con el material para base y el diente incluido en su parte central, que fueron fraccionadas hasta su ruptura en la unión diente-material para base. Calculada la adhesión a cada tipo de acrílico para base se observaron valores significativamente mayores con el de cadenas lineales que con el de cadenas cruzadas.

Objetivo general:
El objetivo general de esta tesis fue evaluar in vitro el efecto de la interrelación de Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans y Mycoplasma orale con el colesterol del suero humano como posible factor de riesgo asociado a fenómenos involucrados en la aterogénesis.
Objetivos específicos
a) Determinar la prevalencia de Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans y Mycoplasma spp. en placa dental de pacientes con niveles de colesterolemia normales y elevados.
b) Determinar in vitro la acreción de colesterol sobre colonias de Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans y Mycoplasma orale.
c) Determinar in vitro la acción de Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans y Mycoplasma orale sobre niveles bioquímicos- clínicos de colesterol humano.
d) Determinar in vitro la colonización de Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans y Mycoplasma orale en presencia de sueros humanos sobre superficies biocompatibles de Nitinol.

Objetivo general
Contribuir a la definición de pautas para el diagnóstico del liquen plano bucal.
Objetivos particulares
1- Analizar en una serie extensa de casos de liquen plano bucal la coincidencia de diagnósticos clínico, histopatológico y de inmunofluorescencia directa.
2- Revisar los criterios definidos en la literatura para el diagnóstico clínico del liquen plano bucal y analizar posibles controversias.
3- Estandarizar el método de tomas biópsicas y procedimiento de laboratorio para la aplicación del método de inmunofluorescencia directa y estimar su utilidad en el diagnostico del liquen plano bucal.
