Description An account of the resource Los Dientes Supernumerarios (SN) son anomalías dentarias de número que pueden originar: desplazamiento y/o retención de dientes permanentes, diastemas, alteraciones en la oclusión, trastornos en la integridad anatómica del diente vecino, erupción nasal, formación de quistes u odontomas y problemas de higiene y estética cuando erupcionan en la cavidad bucal. Su diagnóstico con frecuencia es un hallazgo radiográfico. Con criterio preventivo al considerar importancia de su diagnóstico precoz y tratamiento oportuno, como causa de retención dentaria, se realizó en 156 pacientes un estudio clínico retrospectivo, descriptivo, observacional y transversal con el fin de estimar la distribución y la prevalencia de dientes SN como causa de retención dentaria.
