Description An account of the resource Resumen: El objetivo de este estudio fue evaluar la resistencia compresiva y dureza de un silicato tricálcico comparando manipulación mecánica con manipulación manual. Se utilizó Biodentine-Septodont (a base de silicato de calcio). Se confeccionaron 10 probetas cilíndricas de silicato tricálcico de 5,5 mm de diámetro y 3 mm de alto; 5 fueron manipuladas y mezcladas manualmente y 5 de forma mecánica según indicaciones del fabricante. Las muestras se almacenaron a 37 º C y 100% humedad relativa durante 7 días. Se registraron 3 mediciones de dureza Vickers en cada probeta con durómetro. Posteriormente se midió la resistencia compresiva con la máquina de ensayos universal Instron. Los valores obtenidos fueron analizados mediante la prueba no paramétrica de Mann-Whitney estableciendo el nivel de significación en 0,05. Tanto en resistencia compresiva como en dureza, la comparación entre manipulación mecánica y manipulación manual no evidenció diferencias estadísticamente significativas. Abstract: The objective of this study was to evaluate the compressive strength and microhardness of a tricalcium silicate by comparing mechanical and manual manipulation. Biodentine-Septodont (based on calcium silicate) was used. Ten cylindrical specimens of tricalcium silicate measuring 5.5 mm in diameter and 3 mm high were prepared; 5 were manually manipulated and mixed, and 5 mechanically, according to the manufacturer’s instructions. The samples were stored at 37°C and 100% relative humidity for 7 days. Three Vickers hardness measurements were recorded on each specimen using a durometer. Compressive strength was subsequently measured using an Instron universal testing machine. The values obtained were analyzed using the nonparametric Mann-Whitney test, with a significance level of 0.05.
