Description An account of the resource Resumen: El síndrome de McCune-Albright es una enfermedad genética rara caracterizada por displasia fibrosa poliostótica, pubertad precoz y manchas cutáneas café con leche. Esta patología, resultado de una mutación en el gen GNAS durante el desarrollo embrionario, afecta principalmente el sistema óseo, endocrino y la piel, presentando una amplia variabilidad clínica que requiere tratamientos personalizados. El objetivo de este reporte es describir las características clínicas y el manejo del síndrome de McCune-Albright, enfatizando la variabilidad de sus manifestaciones y la importancia de un enfoque multidisciplinario en su diagnóstico y tratamiento. Se presenta una paciente en la cuarta década de vida, diagnosticada con el síndrome hace 12 años, que acudió por asimetría facial debido a un aumento de tejido fibroóseo maxilofacial. La paciente había sido sometida previamente a una craneotomía por compresión ocular. En esta ocasión, se realizó una resección y remodelación mandibular para corregir tanto el exceso de tejido fibroóseo como el hundimiento temporoparietal. El manejo quirúrgico, enfocado en mejorar la función y apariencia facial, busca prevenir complicaciones futuras. Aunque esta condición carece de cura definitiva, su progresión puede controlarse mediante un abordaje multidisciplinario que incluye intervenciones quirúrgicas y tratamientos hormonales como el letrozol, eficaz en el manejo de la pubertad precoz. Este caso subraya la importancia de un enfoque individualizado y multidisciplinario para optimizar el tratamiento y la calidad de vida de estos pacientes. Abstract: McCune-Albright syndrome is a rare genetic disorder characterized by polyostotic fibrous dysplasia, precocious puberty, and café-au-lait skin patches. This pathology, resulting from a mutation in the GNAS gene during embryonic development, primarily affects the skeletal, endocrine, and skin systems, presenting a wide clinical variability that requires personalized treatments. The objective of this report is to describe the clinical characteristics and management of McCune-Albright syndrome, emphasizing the variability of its manifestations and the importance of a multidisciplinary approach in its diagnosis and treatment. We present a patient in her fourth decade of life, diagnosed with the syndrome 12 years ago, who presented with facial asymmetry due to increased maxillofacial fibro-osseous tissue. The patient had previously undergone a craniotomy for ocular compression. On this occasion, a mandibular resection and remodeling was performed to correct both the excess fibro-osseous tissue and the temporoparietal depression. Surgical management, focused on improving facial function and appearance, seeks to prevent future complications. Although this condition has no definitive cure, its progression can be controlled through a multidisciplinary approach that includes surgical interventions and hormonal treatments such as letrozole, which is effective in the management of precocious puberty. This case underscores the importance of an individualized and multidisciplinary approach to optimize treatment and quality of life for these patients. Fil: Roldán, S.
