Description An account of the resource Resumen: El objetivo de este artículo es comparar, en un caso clínico, el desempeño de la técnica de doble hilo y de un sistema de retracción en pasta para el desplazamiento gingival, analizando su impacto en la captura de los márgenes de preparación en impresiones analógicas y digitales. Caso clínico: Una paciente femenina de 44 años fue derivada a la Cátedra de Rehabilitación Integral de Mediana y Alta Complejidad (FOUBA) para rehabilitación oral integral. Durante la toma de impresión definitiva del maxilar superior, se utilizaron diferentes sistemas de desplazamiento gingival en cada hemiarcada: técnica de doble hilo (Ultrapack® 000 y 0 con cloruro de aluminio hexahidratado 25%) en la derecha, y sistema en pasta (Traxodent®, cloruro de aluminio 15%) en la izquierda. Las impresiones se realizaron mediante técnica analógica con silicona por adición en dos tiempos y escaneo intraoral. En la impresión analógica, la presión hidráulica del material favoreció el registro marginal independientemente del método de retracción. En la impresión digital, el desplazamiento logrado con el sistema en pasta resultó insuficiente para una adecuada visualización de los límites de preparación. La técnica de doble hilo permitió un mayor control mecánico y estabilidad del campo operatorio, aunque a expensas de mayor tiempo y manipulación tisular. Dado que se trata de un único caso clínico, se requieren estudios con mayor tamaño muestral y análisis estadístico para confirmar y generalizar estos hallazgos. Abstract: The aim of this article was to compare, in a clinical case, the performance of the doublecord technique and a retraction paste system for gingival displacement, analyzing their impact on the capture of preparation margins in conventional and digital impressions. Clinical report: A 44-yearold female patient was referred to the Department of Comprehensive Rehabilitation of Medium and High Complexity (FOUBA) for full oral rehabilitation. During the definitive maxillary impression, different gingival displacement systems were used in each hemiarch: double-cord technique (Ultrapack® 000 and 0 with 25% aluminum chloride hexahydrate) on the right side, and a paste system (Traxodent®, 15% aluminum chloride) on the left. Impressions were obtained using a two-step addition silicone conventional technique and intraoral scanning. In the conventional impression, the hydraulic pressure of the material facilitated marginal recording regardless of the retraction method. In the digital impression, the displacement achieved with the paste system was insufficient for adequate visualization of the preparation margins. The double-cord technique provided greater mechanical control and field stability, although at the expense of increased clinical time and tissue manipulation. As this is a single clinical case, further studies with larger sample sizes and statistical analysis are necessary to confirm and generalize these findings. Fil: D’Agostino, F. S.
