A lo largo de esta tesis se estudiará la respuesta inicial de los osteocitos del hueso alveolar ante la aplicación in vivo de fuerzas ortodóncicas, utilizando tiempos experimentales cortos (1 y 2 hs) en los cuales no se han manifestado aún los procesos de reabsorción y formación óseas en respuesta a la aplicación de la fuerza. La utilización de un modelo experimental de ortodoncia nos permite ejercer fuerzas de magnitud inicial conocida como así también nos permite evaluar la respuesta celular a fuerzas compresivas y a fuerzas traccionales generadas al mismo tiempo en las mismas unidades experimentales.
