Así, estudiamos la capacidad de los anticuerpos para interactuar con los receptores muscarínicos colinérgicos glandulares, inducir la expresión génica de enzimas que median los procesos inflamatorios glandulares y promover la generación de sustancias roinflamatorias. Además valoramos su capacidad para modificar la funcionalidad secretoria de las glándulas salivales. El avance en el estudio de estos aspectos en los pacientes con SS aporta conocimientos que son de utilidad para la mejor comprensión de su etiopatogenia, posibilitando la generación de nuevas herramientas para su diagnóstico y tratamiento.
