(dir) Description An account of the resource Objetivos generales Nuestro interés fue determinar en los pacientes con periodontitis crónica, la existencia de anticuerpos dirigidos contra neuro-receptores β1 adrenérgicos que se expresan en el miocardio, su interacción molecular y su capacidad de modificar la actividad de dichos receptores. Hipótesis Dado que la literatura señala un nexo entre la periodontitis y las enfermedades cardiovasculares, nos propusimos investigar si la presencia de autoanticuerpos en el suero de pacientes con periodontitis crónica reconocían y activaban los receptores β1 adrenérgicos del miocardio y eran capaces de modificar su contractilidad y de modular ciertas moléculas proinflamatorias liberadas por el miocardio auricular. Nos propusimos investigar en el suero de pacientes con periodontitis severa si la presencia de anticuerpos dirigidos contra β-AR a nivel del miocardio tienen efectos biológicos sobre este tejido, modificando su contractilidad y la expresión de moléculas pro-inflamatorias. Ello permitiría conocer si estos anticuerpos ocuparían un rol patogénico en la miocardiopatía asociada a la periodontitis crónica. Asimismo, estos anticuerpos podrían utilizarse como marcadores tempranos de la asociación entre disautonomía cardíaca (previa a la cardiopatía) y la periodontitis crónica.
